The Shines Cookbook

Real recipes, family favorites and the memories that make them worth passing down.

Pull up a chair

A community cookbook with a story in every dish

The Shines Cookbook is a place for the food Walterboro and Colleton County actually cook: weeknight suppers, church-table favorites, Lowcountry dishes, holiday traditions, budget meals, desserts and recipes carried through generations.

Recipes can be simple, handwritten, well-loved or changed over time. The story behind a dish is welcome, too, because sometimes the memory is the best ingredient.

Share a recipe and the story behind it

Send a family favorite, a budget-friendly meal, a church or reunion dish, a Lowcountry classic, or the recipe everyone asks you to bring.

Photos are welcome. After the email opens, attach a clear photo of the finished dish or the original recipe card if you have one.

Submitting does not guarantee publication. Walterboro Shines may edit for clarity and will contact you if important details are missing.
